The acquisition of betty is central to Discovery’s strategy of reaching the female demographic across its female lifestyle flagship channel, TLC. In this unique deal, betty will continue to operate independently from its London headquarters and all of its staff will be retained. Discovery will bring the global infrastructure that will allow betty’s output to be maximised worldwide as well as providing a production foothold for betty in the USA.
Clarity was the sole corporate finance advisor to the shareholders of betty on all aspects of the transaction including deal strategy, negotiation and execution.
Clarity was responsible for identifying prospective acquirers, marketing the business to them and negotiating a deal structured to deliver the desired benefits to both betty and Discovery.
The transaction process from preparation phase to completion lasted approximately 6 months.
